Cancer is such a frightening word when your doctor presents it in a diagnosis. More than a year ago my doctor said it to me, and I went home and prayed. My prayer was similar to the poem below. To the best of my knowledge I am now cancer-free.
I Want to Live
Oh God, I want to live
I want to wake in the morning,
To the excitement of a bright new day
I want to praise You for Your loving mercy
That hears all I ask for when I pray.
I want to dress and primp at my mirror
Dress up to look my very best
I want to hold my head up high Feeling the vigor of a good night’s rest
I want to live with exuberance, oh God
Restore my strength, vitality and health
Give me a future with many tomorrows
A storehouse of life filled with spiritual wealth.
Let me enjoy my loving family,
Rejoice in visits from friends I love Relish the love of my sweet loving son
And the additional blessings from You above.
Give me deep breaths of air, dear God
From soft breezes whispering near
Fill my body with regenerated health And vibrant life that I hold dear.
Oh God, let me live
Don’t take me to my eternal rest just yet,
I’ve so many things yet to accomplish
And many goals I want to set.
WHAT A POWERFUL PRAYER THAT IS FULL OF FAITH IN GOD, WITH WHOM YOU HAVE A PERSONAL AND TRUE RELATIONSHIP. THE WORDS SAYS, "...BEFORE THEY CALL I WILL ANSWER, WHILE THEY ARE YET SPEAKING I WILL HEAR..." JESUS HEARD YOU. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS LOVELY, STRONG PRAYER. LOVE AND BLESSINGS, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
Thank you for sharing this, Jeanette. This disease seems to touch every family in some way. I lost my meme to cancer six years ago. Must be terrifying to hear those words. I cannot imagine. Like everyone, I pray I never hear them. Your strength shines here. Love and Hugs,
Sheila
Oh, Jeanette,
This is such a heart felt poem. I am sobbing as I read this. You are going to be fine. You have been given a second chance. Do not squander this, feel the sun on your face each morning and thank the good Lord, for one more day. Embrace your son, your friends, and tell them how much you love them everyday of your life. For when you do this, you are enhanced in so many ways. I will send you some healing energy, to give you a boost of well being. I am a Reiki Master, do you know anything about Reiki? I shall ask your permission to include you in my Reiki prayer circle. Let me know if this is all right with you.
Keep on writing and getting all of your fears and worries out of your body, that will also keep it healthy!
A very touching write my friend...thank God you are cancer free! My mother in law is now nineteen years cancer free, and my mother forty six years cancer free, God is merciful and generous! Don't know what I would do without him! Beautiful prayer you've penned it from the heart!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
POWERFUL. The news can be devastating...thank God, I've not heard that dreaded word given as diagnosis; but when I was a medic in the Air Force, saw many receive the diagnosis: glad to hear you're cancer free. PRAISE GOD! Continue to fight, I'm in your corner. :)
I've had a long life and have experienced much good and much bad. But the devastating news of being told that I have cancer is beyond my comprehension. I simply cannot fathom the emotional reaction one would feel to such a personal catastrophe.
As for you, Jeanette, the recent years have been filled with such literary accomplishment that it could only have been the outflow of a vibrant and committed soul dedicated for years on end to the betterment of our school children and, now, to the betterment and enjoyment of us late-comers in your career.
Though I've had frequent contact with you for many months, you have borne this burden alone and without one word of self-pity, instead filling my email trough with pleasant and oftentimes comical and funny snippets of humor and occasional words of professional concern and advice regarding my own literary undertakings.
In your poem "I Want To Live," you have replayed for us all the simple yet valued concerns of life that we so frequently take for granted: waking up in the morning to the excitement of a bright new day; feeling the vigor of a good night's rest; the desire to live with exuberance; our strength, vitality and health; the rejoicing of visits with family and friends; and a future with many tomorrows.
In His infinite wisdom, God has granted your prayers.
Sharing these poetic words with us all was an act of unselfish courage. Our hearts are gladdened by the good news of this poem, and we all look forward with delight to sharing in the many things you have yet to accomplish.
With love and great respect for a wonderful human being,
Sheila
