I am true ly sorry to all of you, but the past couple of days have not been good ones. I try so very hard to have faith, understand, be happy and spread sunshine wherever I go, but days like these really test my faith. Yet, I was looking forward to spending the weekend with my brother, whom I have not seen in almost forty years......

Poem Artwork

                                   Eternity.........

Mommy why do you look so sad,
sitting and staring with eyes of red.
Hands cover your sullen swollen face,
was it something I did, something I said?

A tear stained photograph tattered and torn,
of a man you loved a very long time ago.
On the beaches of Normandy he
                        breathed his last,
yet all these years later you will not let go.

What about daddy, how did he feel?
This mans portrait on display for all to see.
I look like you with dark hair and eyes,
why did you expect me to look like he?

Bright blue eyes and thick wavy blonde hair,
but mommy it was a time that is no more.
You met another and became his wife,
but your heart was resistant that is for sure.

Your mind was made up, carved in stone,
you were having a boy, blonde hair, blue eyes.
Disappointment you felt was too much
                               to bear,
for eternity all will hear your cries.

Instead you received great pleasure and joy,
packing my bags and sending me away.
It took a long time, now I finally understand,
nothing I could do, nothing I could say.

Not much time left, you will be leaving soon,
will you be buried with daddy or with
                            your twin?
No, she will be buried in Normandy,
away from her family, but forever with him.

Mommy why do you look so sad,
sitting and staring with eyes of red.
Hands cover your sullen swollen face,
was it something I did, something I said?

I SEE THAT THIS WAS WRITTEN IN 2007 AND THOUGH I UNDERSTAND THAT 'WOUNDS' DO HURT...IT IS MY HOPE AND PRAYER THAT THE 'PAIN' HAS SUBSIDED GREATLY AND THE OPEN GASH HAS BEEN HEALED WITH ONLY THE SCAR REMAINING...AND THAT, OF COURSE, WILL BE THERE...FOREVER. NOT TO TORMENT, BUT TO REMIND YOU OF THE 'ETERNITY' OF LOVE. WELL DONE AND THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...

Good sentimental writing. I too am grieving still after 7 months. Husband Tom died Aug 17 07 and he was such a good and loving person I can't let him go. This helped. I am not afraid of death as he died in front of me and went peacefully. Was not ready to lose him at age 58 he was, but had to let him go to his maker.

Their is a great beauty in pain....the freedom in expressing yhe core of your soul....when you've begun to see the forgiveness unconditionally brings the love deep from the core of you...blesses me to see, the beauty in your pain...a valuable treasure...it's called growth...May God forever hold you close....
Sincerely,
Wendy

Very sad piece of poetry. it reflected alot and it was very well written. You obivously put alot of emotion into this work. My great uncle was at normandy, he lost many friends there. This poem made me think back to what he told me about that place.

Sometimes putting it down in poetry is a way of giving it over to God, Karen. I agree with all the others that this is a well-done but sad piece, too. When it's time to cry, there's no better place to do it than to wrap yourself in the arms of the Lord. I'll pray for you too as I also bless you for doing the same thing for me when I went through some of the same steps on AD...Jerry

I am begining to wonder what's happening to AD since I was not informed of your poem and I would have lost a beautiful one. Even if sad. But who said sad poems aren't beautiful? Victor

As dark and somber as you may feel about this, Creator is with you ,and I know you'll keep the faith even if you'd rather not just now. Yet it is at these very times of testing that you prove your love to Him. My heart aches for you and I pray he will help you to recover quickly from this trial.Love and blessings to you Karen! A masterfully written poem!

This poem brough me back to Omaha beach in Normandy and all the letters that never went, and all the photos that went brownish with time and worst of all, into the third year of the war...the dear John letters.

Karen, Sweetness, you are a beautiful woman. Please do not take on your mother's issue..She found a soul mate. There is no way you will ever convince her to stop. You, my lovely friend, need to fulfill your own heart's desires. Love her, let her go, and remember her for what she was to you and your family, not what she could have been...
I love this poem, so full of tenderness and painful thoughts. You are a wonderful writer, keep on writing,,,

Oh my Karen this one tugs at the heart! Written with excellence as well as a passion from the heart. We are often tested while here in this life, especially when it involves family...hold tight to your faith, faith is a substance unseen...just as God is unseen, but we know He is there to help carry us through the tough times! Lean on Him...in the mean time know that friends are praying for you...you've penned a superb poem my friend with a beautiful photo to compliment it!
Blessings,

Karen - Many thoughts and wishes to you in this tough time. It takes sheer guts to put your heart out on the page like this when it's hurting. This piece evokes a bone-crunching pain, and a hope for inner peace for all of the victims of time at the same time.
