Another Side
October 19, 2019
By Rose Marie Rideout
Soft yet ruff on the edges,
Round yet very square,
Silent but noisey to hear,
Low but very high.
What can it be but another side,
Another side of ups and downs,
Sitting in a shadow of life,
Yet surrounded by light.
Loved yet not liked,
For how one reacts to family members,
What can it be but another side,
Another side of ins and outs,
A love tattered and torn.
Another side to blind one's heart,
Like a storm blowing in the night,
Tossing and turning feelings,
Another side of what is to be.
Love ya!

As a personal defense from what we don't know, we often polarize our thoughts and don't see the other side of an issue. Hence, disagreements. My sister and I are politically opposite. But she ends most messages with the word, Love, and for the most part is the only one really caring for our aging and angry mother who has lost all of her independence in an assisted-living home.

It's funny how some people become more like we envision them to be. For example, if I wake up thinking my wife is an angel and focus on what good things she has done for me in the past, she usually acts like an angel the rest of the day. I could also just as easily focus on the things she did not do for me and think of her as a negative person. If I chose this road then somehow she will act in a much more negative manner the rest of the day. So I have learned that how my mind chooses to focus about a person's personality can make or ruin my day. It's hard for a person to be nasty to you when you start complimenting them about their looks, their talents, or the way they dress etc. On the other hand, if you chose to focus of their negative traits you just may get that person angry or resentful and a whole different person comes out of the same shell. Try this and see...
