(lyrics currently under re-construction via the help of Roger Allen Russel...)

Alarm clock says "get busy"
but I don't want to move
my mother calls, she misses me
I tell her "I love you"
and then I try to wake up
to face another day
'cause ever since we broke up
I'm just trying to be OK,

My goldfish swims around the bowl
you got me late last year,
he's looking happier
it's 'cuz,
your cat's no longer here
but guess I miss him anyway,
my goldfish-nemesis
and ever since we broke up
I'm just trying to get through this

(chorus)
Funny how before I wanted
to be all alone
felt that somehow without you
I'd have more room to grow
but why is it I feel it so,
that you're just not around?
Guess I've gotten just a little
too close to the ground.....

I really should get busy
but I don't want to move
my mother says the same old words
I tell her "I love you"
and finally I get up
to face another day
to work through this damn break-up
and just try to be OK

(chorus)
Funny how before I wanted
to be all alone
felt that somehow without you
I'd have more room to grow
but why is it I feel it so
that you're just not around?
Guess my feet are just a little
too close to the ground...

My goldfish looks around the bowl
you got me late last year
he's looking happier
I think, I pull his bowl right near
and damn the tears that fall into
his little world like rain.....

and ever since we broke up
I'm just trying to be OK

yeah, ever since we broke up
I'm just trying to be OK

Sometimes that's all you can do, is try to be ok. Enjoyed this pen of lost thoughts

Great job Rose, you tied this one up really well with the chorus, I like it.

i love the chorus - makes me want to do a jig - and it not because of the lilting rhythm you've got going, but the good title for this song - and the goldfish verse is cute for going round in circles and cursing grief, last thing the little goldfish seems to be wanting - cool song Rose, Nicky x
