following
the
swallowing
of my old, swollen pride
my throat will hurt
and I'll be working
on what's left inside

and if you really want to wait
for this last reconstruction
I'll make it as comfortable as
allowed by my wee functions,

wish I weren't so full of flaws with mistakes by the road
want to sweep them up and throw the old out with cold

if I had my way I would have been better for you,
God knows, my only work of perfection has been you,

the most important job we have as humans, there's no school for,
"Parent School" would not go over too well, there's no use for

such silliness, but willingness to love does perservere,
what with all the screwing up of offspring, they see clearer

than any of us, Thank God for the
small, great miracles,
in younger minds
who jolt us fine
to keep us on our toes....

following the

chunk of pride

and since you kind of have to wait
around for reconscruction,
I promise to work harder to
try to improve these functions...
