The Noise Inside
_
by: Salome G. Rowe
The whisper of an eagle’s wing causes thunder.
The breath of an ant changed God.
Does that frighten you?
The concept that divinity rides on a butterfly’s powdered wing is astonishing.
Feel that?
I heard the light from the sun.
It told me what music is.
It promised me the song of senses,
the smell of wonder,
the holy om between the silence of color that Joshua called technique.
Noise.
Idle gossip?
I call it fodder for prize-winning news copy –
the cosmic vibration - Jehovah’s opera,
a doctor’s order,
a mother’s command,
a father’s encouragement,
a lawyer’s closing remarks,
a shy child’s explanation of a math problem - solved,
all proud,
all correct,
all clear,
loud and clear,
loud and clear,
loud,
clear,
sweet, courageous noise.
