Silent Lips
His lips were silent, no mention of love
the kind of love that transcends words
and surpasses the silky beauty of poetry
my greatest approbation rested on him I have been
admired by many men before, I have been honestly
cherished by none I have been romantic muse to many
poets
the substance of a perfect dreamworld but truly known
by none of those admirers I dared not assume anything
from all the generous offering of praise and kindness
if only I had known his true desperation
if only his lips and pen had professed love years ago,
his loneliness would have ended no torment touch him,
no lament escape him no penance for a lover’s desire
no tears to fill the blue lagoons of restless passion
someone to share his island, his beachfront, heart and
soul, red, green and milky white to nourish the garden
of his deferred hopes
let the waves wash away despair; I am here
The power of love but
To the depths of desire
There is La Belle.
"...the kind of love that transcends words
and surpasses the silky beauty of poetry..."
Much gratitude for the sharing.
