our life together is serene
like a tranquil sea
on a moonlit, windless night
there is no more confusion
or chaos to endure
if trials come, as they must,
it will not be because
our love has failed us
nor our commonsense
peace, oh blessed peace
to love and be loved fiercely
there are no walls
between our spirits
no bricks to build them with
