Laying Upon These Gentle Sands
Hazy shade of lonely Monday
How I wish that it were always Sunday
Laying in the sombre sands
Grit and dirt upon my hands
Wondering why the sky is blue
Beneath the sun in sombre hue
Wading clouds shift slowly by
Towards the heavens subtle sigh
Laying upon these gentle sands
Tidal seas that ebbed their part
Beneath the sound of heavenly harps
Thou are gentle in my heart
If I danced the morn in rhythmic tide
Would my heart be swept aside?
My eyes a hazy gentle blue
Beneath the sky in sombre hue
To feel the grains of sand, between my feet
Beside the morn and morning peat
Hallowed breath my body takes
Beside still waters, near these lakes
