Pills and More Pills

Here, take this … it should help.

But, doctor, I don’t want any more pills.

You need them.

No I don’t!!!!  I’m sick of all these pills

that I take day in and day out.  Why can’t

I just slip into nothingness.  Then perhaps

life would be a little more stable.

The pills will make you stable, not taking them

will be detrimental to your own health.

I don’t care!  No more bloody pills!

You need them.

I hate them.  No, I LOATHE them.  I’d be

fine if everyone would just shut up and

leave me alone.  Everyone is out to get me,

do harm to me or make me look bad.  I am

sick of people staring at me as if I have

three heads.

See, you need them.  Here, these will help

with the paranoia.  No one is out to get you,

it’s all in your mind.

No, doctor, it’s safe in my mind … I think.

At least, some of the time.  I’m tired of the

nightmares, waking and during sleep.  If

I have to take pills, then give me something

to stop the dreaming.

Sorry, I cannot do that.

I’m tired of the roller coaster, the glimpses

from the corner of my eyes, the condemning

voices.  What’s wrong with me!  My family

blames me for all their problems.  I want

it all to just go away!

Then take your meds, they will put you on an

even keel.

But doctor, you don’t understand!!!

I just want to be accepted for who I am

and not blamed for the problems of

the rest of the world.

The world, I feel, would be a better place

without the likes of me.  Everyone is out

to get me!  How come no one can see what

it’s like for me!  Just once, can’t someone

see things through my eyes?

this poem is so very true.they think they know your body more then you do.just maybe we want to be able to realize our true problems.instead of drowning them in a pool of medication.this is there way of controlling you instead of healing you.PILLS AND MORE PILLS?HITS THE NAIL ON THE HEAD.

I've been on meds since I was about thirteen. Currently I'm on Geodon, Effexor, Klonopin in the mornings and Geodon, Trazodone, Zyprexa at night. i was misdiagnosed and was on various meds until about five years ago when I finally got on meds for schizophrenia. If it were all as beautiful as it so often is I might go off my pills permanently, but every heaven has its hell.

This is sad, but I know this can happen to anyone. Some doctors put patients on pills when they don't know what to do with them.

Good write!
