I grasp at the air in hopes of
catching a distant memory to
cling to.

A jaded butterfly that floats upon
the currents of air, fluttering wings
that carry my despair.

A cherished memory that I hold
so very dear. Close to my heart
those words do stay, the emotions
never truly coming to light within
them.

If only I could fall back asleep and

light when we spoke and I knew then
what true love was. Yet, now I know
that such misguided fancies are false.
