Bumping
Dan Johnson
© 28 October 2013

No matter where I go
No matter what I do
I keep bumping into you.

Walking the halls deep in the night,
I brush against you, but you’re not there
The touch of your hand the smell of your hair, I reach out to trace your loving face…
What an unfulfilled feeling grasping at an empty space.

Still, I keep bumping into you…

Last night in restless sleep
I turned my head and felt the warmth
Of your sweet breath, I saw the joy in your smile,I heard you whisper as you said…
We’ve just got to stop bumping into each other like this. Then taking flight in a slight wisp of air…you were gone from there.

Yet, I keep bumping into you.

Going up town just trying to get away
The memory of you lingers;
On the street almost every day
In our favorite spot at that little café,
I keep bumping into you.
On the street car or late at night
While watching a shooting star…there you are.

No matter where I go
No matter what I do
All my thoughts bring me back to this one thing…and
I keep bumping into you

I love "bumping" into the right people (usually one particularly special one). Love and peace to you, Dan,

...admirable amble with an ambiance of ambivalence... but it reminds me of that old rhyme: I met a man upon a stair, but when I turned he wasn't there... he wasn't there again today, oh how I wish he'd go away... got that same kind of casual chill... like Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight"... well, D.L. you got a fine touch of temerity about you in this one... I'm mighty glad I stopped by.

Reminds me of that old Ray Price tune "my shoes keep walking back to you." Substitute "shoes" with another body part, and "walking" with "Bumping" and you may have a hit! Great write.

Maybe we could remove all your appendages so they wouldn't protrude? ;-)

It does have a bouncy, bluesy lilt to it. Also a great little story line.

Oh my dear friend.. I cannot begin to tell you how much this touched me... I feel this way so often but I think you know that. And as much I sometimes wish I could stop 'bumping' I know I would be lost without it..) Truly moving and so real... wonderful wonderful work!
hugs and cheers TD
