Called upon to serve our nation,

Using sounds for words with no English name.
The code they had remained unbroken,

They proved their worth in many a battle,
Nerves of the enemy they did rattle.
On patrols, in foxholes, and on jeeps they rode,
With radios in hand they spoke this code.
So much loss of life did they retard,
That each was assigned a body guard.
We'll never know how many they did save,
A grateful nation salutes you, Navajo Brave.
I believe that this was your best work. Being part of the Indian nation I enjoy reading about the courage and honor these warriors possessed. Their spirits survive due to your honoring them in a wonderful way. I thank you.

With so much money wasted already, why the schmucks in Washington didn't have the sense to take over and finish Crazy Horse monument?
That would have given the Native American Nations a gesture of respect that they didn't get from the two tongues speakin pale faces.

We should all salute them, and never forget them. I've visited the Navajo Nation many times, and they are truly a people we could all still learn much from.
Thank you Walt because for a long, long time they were not given the recognition they so duly deserve. Without them I do not think we could have won.....
I did not know of them before this..Thank you for enlightening me to this amazing group of men. I believe that we should thank them so very much for their bravery and patriotism.

Walt, this is a most beautiful tribute to the Code Talkers of WWII. It was through their language that many were saved. Each of us owes these brave men a multitude of thanks.
Were they treated as badly as most other veterans when home they did return to...or being American Indians probably worse...good write, well spoken and in English too...;) Ed

I saw the movie about the Navajo Braves and what a valuable service they rendered to their fellow soldiers. Great tribute to them and I salute them and their courage in battle.
Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
Regardless of where you may be found in love this beautiful masterpiece can be
