I want to speak of foolish things The cooper color of yo’ skin Yo’ hair roped through my fingers Veins bulging blue-black Through rippled arms about me.
Don’t want no words for nothing mo’ now Don’t want to speak of revolution Or the way you speak and there is pain - Centuries old – Calling from Black places Only Blackness can hear.
Don’t want to fix it all the way I do. God before massaSay, “He ain’t nothin’ but a chile, suh” Don’t want to salve no heart Don’t want to bind no wounds.
I only want to lie in the peace of you…and me And watch you breath Like life Ain’t nothin’ but a party. I want to speak of foolish things! I want…to NOT be dauntless! I want…to be…ANYTHING… But…A Strong…Black…Woman.
i echo the feelings of Netta, I did enjoy this
and even in the events of a black woman who don't know better there is strength there just not in use....

If I get this correct, this poem is about the moments when a woman wants to be a feel like a lady and nothing more. On that note, may I say I applaud the sentence structure you used - way down home so long ago. Loving the flow. And I must say I sincerly hope you are a sista. Kudos on the write.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
Thanks, Billye. Will come back.
