This poem was written in honor of one of my heros, poet Mattie Stepanek, author of Heartsongs.
The blessings of life are upon us Surrounding us everyday The potential of every moment Guides us in everyway When I look at the sky I see rainbows When I look in your eyes I see stars When I look at the world I see beauty But when I look in your heart I see God Before us the wonders of nature The oceans, the mountains, the trees The gentle caress of the morning The sweet song that sings in the breeze When I look at the sky I see rainbows When I look in your eyes I see stars When I look at the world I see beauty But when I look in your heart I see God The bright light of love that surrounds us Brings healing and joy to the dance As heaven and earth join together We embrace the sacred romance When I look at the sky I see rainbows When I look in your eyes I see stars When I look at the world I see beauty But when I look in your heart I see God I see God I see God

What a wonderful testimonial poem, my wife is the inspiration of my poem 'My Rainbow's End' and it is obvious in this poem that God has surrounded you with his abundance.

My wife and I both work for our local schools, she is a literacy coach and I the school police officer, we are surrounded with great potential and enjoy encouraging all to be the best they can be in their faithful pusuit of fulfilling their divine call.

Indeed, Mattie Stepanek was a peacemaker in a chaotic world; such genius in a body ravaged by disease. Such wisdom; such love; such...acceptance...of his own problems, reaching out with hands of compassion to the world around him. Yes. He will be missed. Mattie Stepanek was one of my heroes too; he is sorely missed! He may have been young and had a serious physical disability, but he loved life, and he was a peacemaker who cared about the world. How many young people can say that they've done that?? Not many, I'm afraid; the world needs more Mattie Stepaneks!
