Today, as I finished what I had to do
I’d want to write what you might like too
But far from our country and our land
Where we saw the light first hand
Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, and Jews
All seem to lose hope and have the blues
If the earth moves or volcanoes sigh
We think the world will end, we look to the sky
We always forget that nothing lasts on earth
The stories of those who know life’s worth
Memories for those who love to write,
And to put on paper what they feel right.
We have inherited while searching for clarity
Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Mohamed and charity
All their writings and all their truths
Succeeded, alas, to better divide us.
Forgetting that we are all brothers –
Because of their writings and their prayers
We fight for the name of one or the other
Forgetting that this whole world is ours.
We rely too much on the writings of the past
Forgetting that we also need to change, at last
Our perception, the present and humanity
It may be early or late to think about our vanity
Some people tell me, "You’re sleeping, wake up!"
I wonder whom we should really shake up.
Them or me? It is not our task to wake the sleeping
Or to find out who the fruit of his labor is reaping
