Not always the pretty face, but the heart and soul...

           What Do You See

The summer night air is upon me and the feel of August has my mind in full thought. My thoughts of you and the path in life we chose. As I continue my journey down this thought fueled path I’m interrupted by a distant stranger. Someone I haven’t seen in twenty years.

My Lord could it be, yes a childhood friend from the block. How have you been? I’ve been great. Talk of course is about the old times. Have you seen this one and how is this one doing? The conversation quite gleeful, but then it turns.

Hey do you remember so and so? My brother what in the world did you see in her? I mean the nose, the face and her hair. My brother, I don’t see what you saw in her.

As my composure settles from the tirade I was about to drop on my childhood friend, a sense of calmness comes. Apparently he doesn’t understand.

My friend I saw a child of God, so real and so complete. She was the one who took time to listen. She has my best interest always, though her physical appearance is not that of Halle’s or Mariah’s. She is a woman that is confident of who she is and what’s she’s about. This loving woman is mine. Her heart is that of pure sweetness. The strength that comes from this woman is something that should be bottled and sold to every misguided man.

Brother I enjoy this woman, and for the past twenty years at the extension of my hand begins hers and it continues. So my brother, what do you see?

Wow Michael you have outdone yourself this time. I myself know what its like for men to look "right through you" ignore you like your not even there. It takes a real man to see the beauty of a woman's soul. Your words are so inspirational. Well Done! Deborah

They say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, right? Beauty comes in many forms, not just the outer shell and your expressions are of one fulfilled....

Be always safe,
Karen
