Excellent write...so very emotionallly charged...but, believe it or not, some promises...from the right people...are fulfilled no matter the cost...so never give up hope that there is still some innocence, some purity in this tired old world...

The truth in a promise is how long it lasts, very nice.

Oh my, four years with a lass who claimed to only ever be faithful to the man she loved. Four years of flying to NY, then to find out on a poetry site, she had loved another all along, and well you can guess, but last Xmas with her over there I kinda knew, least she has a great new tv, duvets, money to free her from debts. But I hear this is the American way.

Staci, you are repeating what I've always said, "Be careful what you promise because if you can't keep that promise someone heart will be hurt." I, in fact, wrote wrote a short story about broken promises...broken promises lives in one's mind forever. An excellent write.

Yes indeed Staci, broken promises can tear apart a heart and therefore shouldn't be made so easily, as Christine says one should really think before making a promise, but do remember dear they are always broken some are made from the heart and are carried out.

Broken promises - probably something we've all sadly experienced at times in our lives - and how shattering they can be.

On the whole, you're probably right about promises easily made, but difficult to maintain . . .

you must have had much experience with broken promises-it reminds me of the movie, "Radio Flyer" in which Tom Hanks' character tells his boys that the most important words you'll ever say are "I Promise"

This one hurts, so much...excellently penned sadness.
