 After The Blue Moon

by Amber "V" Moonstone
8/5/15

Twilight settles in,
the night sky craddles the full moon,
moonlight illuminates the room,
sending memories of lost love.

Once in a blue moon
memories creep in
rendering you helpless
to the rhythm of lost love.

How can the moonlight
trigger such thoughts,
vividly and sadly felt,
memories of lost love.

What is it about a blue moon,
a rarity, a strong force,
that can blast right toward
your heart and land soundly into your mind.

Stirring up all kinds of feelings,
emotions and sadness,
allowing you to feel what it was like
to have lost love.

But on this Blue Moon,
Do not alow this to happen,
Embrace that lost love and
replace it with angelic love.

Excellent question, Amber, and one that you have expressed adroitly. You capture those very 'blue' feelings and yearnings as well as that acute sense of loss that numb the mind and soul. The cure, antidote - angelic love - is always good, though. :) xx

If I'm not totally out of it, I think there might be two Blue Moons this year. I am compelled to stalk each full moon with my camera as it sets over the Backbone.

Good advice; I can surely relate, Amber. Love and best wishes to you,

Because the moon is part of your namesake, it will always influence you with its power and the pull of its gravity, along with its beautiful image in the night sky. No wonder the moon draws the melancholy from your heart and into your mind. With remembrances of lovely moonlit nights lost with that lost love.

I have never personally seen a blue moon. I thought it is only in poetry. I never knew what kind of mood I would be in if I ever saw one. I know the full moon gets people to be more emotional as well. Thank you for sharing your well-expressed poem!

Powerfully said, Amber. "...that can blast right toward your heart and land soundly into your mind." Very visual and yet evoking emotional response as well. Nice to read your work.

Thanks,
Chris

The moon, blue or otherwise generates a lot of feeling, and then words follow from poets especially. I agree with your last stanza, Amber.
