A Memory Of You

This was written for my fathers mother, Grandma Dorothy, after she passed away. I only met her once but we had a connection.

A memory of you in the back of my mind
A memory of a distant happy time
I remember the plane we took to L.A.
I remember it was a very smoggy day
I remember your wonderful smiles
and that you traveled for miles
You came all the way from New York
just to see what Mom got from the stork
We played at Busch Gardens that day
and then you had to go away
It's not much of a memory I know
but it's a happy one even though
I never saw you again but I wrote
There isn't one thing I can quote
but you took time and wrote me back
giving me things I never knew I lacked
As I got older I'm sorry the writing stopped
and when you died my heart just flopped
And though this thought can't change that day
I miss you more each and every day

Some memories are precious and they never "die." Well-expressed, Marissa. Love and peace to you,

Regis
