He devoted most of his life
To helping others fight their fears
He truly was a man of God
Gently he wiped away our tears

Always there when we needed him
Always there to show us the way
A friend, a mentor, a teacher
He taught each of us how to pray

One fateful day God saw his pain
Knew he was longing to come home
So the Good Lord took our Pastor
Leaving his flock feeling alone

His wonderful heart stopped beating
Tomorrow we'll lay him to rest
In taking him home God's proven
He always takes the very best

Our brother, our friend and neighbor
A man that so many did love
Has now claimed his place in Heaven
His just reward from God above

"Pastor Avery, you'll be missed
You were a friend to one and all
So we'll take comfort in knowing
Because of you, we heard God's call

"We know we will see you again
Faith helps us cope with all our strife
Now we look forward to that day
To praise God for eternal life"
