Oh the memories--baby's first Christmas! My son could have cared less about the gifts--you're absolutely right! All he wanted was the bows and ribbons!! LOL!

When we get older, the boxes turn into books. Doesn't matter that we haven't read them all. They just look so pretty stacked up everywhere. :o)

Ahhh... would it were still so... When will we learn that that greatest thing is anticipation? And that the gift itself, irrespective of its contents, is the thing that brings so much joy. This is a wonderful and nostalgic poem from the childs point of view! Why is it that your children's poems always bring joyful memories to mind for me...probably the sign of a very good writer!

Playing with the boxes - you've resurrected another wonderful childhood memory for me, CJ! Those boxes often were more intriguing than the actual gifts inside them - especially if the gifts were clothes!

Allow me to be the first to say you have captured that timeless First Christmas all of us have experienced who have children. Perhaps one of the most joyous moments of Christmas. Only a CJ would have the heart, soul and talent to create such a great poem about the moment.

This is so tru, CJ! Sometimes, just for the sake of tearing out the wrappings, makng all the noises and opening the boxes are more fun than receiving the presents in a child's point of view. You have captured it so well.
