                I Was Blessed

When I was a boy,

some kids didn't have what I had.

Was I lucky? No, I was blessed.

I had my Dad.

He was always there, with

encouraging words to say.

He wasn't a wealthy man,

but  he was there everyday.

He didn't have a

M.A.,B.A., or P.H.D.

He was the smartest man I knew.

He was there for me.

He always advised me

to be the best I could be.

To this day, I can still recall

the love he had for me.

Someday when I'm gone

I hope my son can say what he had.

One day he can look back and say,

I was lucky. No, I was blessed.

I had my Dad.

This is a very sentimental piece. Even though I grew up without a dad, this still touches my heart. I was still blessed because God enabled me to have a mother who was strong enough to be mom and dad!!!!

*****Standing ovation for this one*****

Wonderful sentiments. I loved my dad so very much and learned so much from him too. Dads are special in childrens eyes. Protectors and huggers. Well done

Amen to that. We have so many children today that don't even know their dad. Then some are in the home but just existing. Sad but true. My sons says this of their dad all the time..if only he would listen...Great write. Continue to share.

This is a very well written tribute to "Dad".... and one that I feel certain your own son will carry forward... How blessed you were indeed. Many cannot say that about their own dad....so in this day when families are absent one or the other parent...how lovely it would be...to have a dad everyday! nice. lindalaw

I also had my dad whom I can remember took me to work with him even and always as my buddy. I was his sidekick he would tell people. There is nothing like having two parents but many do not in this world and it is shamelessly hopelessly not the way to do good and live.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
