(Mavournin/mavourneen: from the old Irish, meaning 'Darling')

Poem Artwork

In the spirit realm where this world is shunned

where mortals take no part

you and I are alone
in the garden at your mother's house
we lock hands
so beautiful we are, standing there, together
so beautiful that every flower from beneath our feet races upward to adorn and crown us
Seasons came and went
centuries merged into eons
and yet we stood
STILL
But in the quietest hour of the night
when all dreams have taken flight
if they should listen carefully they could hear us whisper these promises
"Mavourneen..."
"Mavournin..."

tender and intimate, Bernice,
and yet universal in its theme

Quite a spiritual leaning poetry, and one that I felt a kinship with. I quite love the ending, but of course I needed to look up the two last words to be able to say that.

I certainly do not claim to know anything anymore; it seems that the older I get, the less I know, the less I comprehend. This is a lovely gift well-shared, Bernice. Amour à toi,

Bernice,
You often give a vocabulary lesson, which I appreciate. This one's a bit of a tongue twister for me, but I love it. Your words paint a very romantic picture.

I've learnt something new, oh to hear such words.
Indeed, this is dreamily cosy and wonderfully sensual!
I relate to your allegory with trees, we learn through nature, those who are awake and as aware as you are.

Lovely Bernice. I love the "in the spirit world..." and ending with the Irish :-)
