Hugs and kisses to my dear honey in heaven...

Poem Artwork

My mind does wander today.
I keep thinking about my dear husband.
The man whom I love so much
and left us too soon.

I miss him giving me hugs and kisses
while I work in the kitchen.
He used to hug and kiss me,
comb my hair with his fingers.

These are the small gestures
I miss most from my dear husband.
Sometimes when you love a person,
actions do speak louder than words.

My husband showed me how appreciative
he was that I cooked a good meal.
He did that by coming into the kitchen
to give me hugs and kisses.

I'm glad I was married to this sweet man.
Our lives may not have been perfect,
but we made the best of it for ourselves
with what was gifted to us by God.

My mind does wander a bit today,
I was imagining what if I saw a person
who looks exactly like my husband.
Would it be okay if I go up to talk to that person?

Would it be okay if I asked him for his name?
Would it be okay if I asked him if he was married?
If so, what would be his wife's name?
Would her name be Sandie?

If so, then perhaps I would say,
"Well, you are my husband,
she is not your wife.
I am!"

Oh, he probably would think I'm a nut.
Would he?

So, perhaps if he was not even married.
Then, perhaps we could be friends, then lovers.
Then perhaps we may also be married!
Wouldn't that be nice?

Oh, I told you so!
My mind does wander today.
You're probably laughing your head off now
at these silly thoughts that are in my head.

Ahhh!!! Don't mind me while I continue
to think silly thoughts in my head.

Yours are very honest thoughts of love, Sandie. How could anyone not take them to heart? Merry Christmas.

You've poured your heart out with this poem about your dear husband. Beautiful sentiments filled each line you wrote. It doesn't matter how long ago our loved ones have passed, our grieving periods vary. I hope you will find peace soon and move on with your life.

Merry Christmas, Sandie!

I can fully understand you missing your husband. He left far too early for you both. And I can understand your fickle way of dealing with what happened. Wishfully thinking that perhaps there is a doppelgänger that would become your husband once again if you asked.

Not silly at all, just wishful thinking.

I believe as we grow older, that thoughts more often return to us of our younger days and those that we have loved that have either passed away or, for one reason or another have moved on. I do think of my first wive that is now gone for fifteen years and what I most often think about are the mistakes that I had made... Sorry but I do not think it would be right to go up to a stranger that reminds you of your husband... I do believe that your love of and for him is best displayed by the thoughts of him that you so lovingly put forth for all to see.

Merry Christmas to you my far away friend.

How lovely! Thank you for sharing these tender personal memories of your husband. You are not alone, Sandie--our minds wander, too; especially--at this wondrous time of year. Far from being silly, your musings are understandable and genuine and that is the mark of a good poet. God bless you very much! Merry Christmas, dear heart!

Love is the most powerful force on earth and you are blessed to have these memories as we are to read them. Thanks so much for sharing them!
