In shallow grave of loves abate
My pallid heart can no longer wait.
You shall never hear my hurt or cries,
Or any other emotion I have grown to despise.
Mournful thoughts linger on my breath.
Contemplating egress of this love’s bloodless death.
Consumed affection for a lustful grope.
Smothering any slither of honor or hope.
Wildflower erupting through slabs of concrete.
Unaware of any smell of defeat.
Hints of caring so bent and raped,
Feelings left to wallow in thought misshaped.
Smoldering hurt cast in my eyes,
My mouth refusing to share in your lies.
Seeing you was like a light to the blind.
My reality was far too unkind.
Your dark chords were never lost on me.
In fact, You have brought me to my knees.
Hands clasp together gripping one another tight.
Tingling fingers turning cold and white.
Whisper of my song slightly audible,
While the thunder of your action not exactly laudable.
You killed this love and used my flesh.
Leaving behind ashes of sin to confess.
Everything that my heart needed you to be,
Is everything I am and nothing you shall see.
A soft caring voice at the end of the day,
Is now just a hush with nothing left to say.
Arms to hold you in soft embrace,
Just a sad memory you have erased.
Lips to kiss all your hurt away,
Used now to murmur I can no longer stay.
The word “toleration” vehemently spins in my head.
Forgetting any reason to be forever after WED.
It is always a privilege to come to a literary banquet that pleases my soul and nourish my mind. “Love's Abate” offers a full emotional composition to satisfy Phoebus, make Erato proud, and Minerva smile, while Cupid confesses his mistakes. This poem meets knowledge, embraces wisdom, and glows by the monument of The Major Art enriching the history of Poetry.

Poignent work. Well said and done.
Dear Robin,
I'm glad I stumbled upon your den. This is an incredible poem. Classical poets of yore would welcome you among their midst. How well I know the pain of a broken heart but never have I been able to express it as profoundly and effectively as you just did. Great work!

I loved it. I went through three marriages. I went through three wonderful women. Fault was all mine. Every time. Except the third one stuck. Well, mmaybe the first one was a little bit her fault. Oh, yeah, while I'm thinking about it that second one . . . Just kidding around here. Loved the poem.
