In bed I was laying,
when I saw a goblin playing,
in the shadows of my room.
I don't know how or when,
it decided to come in,
from the dark nights gloom.
On the dresser it was playing,
where my things were laying,
dancing with a harlequin doll.
It bowed and did its dance.
It leaped, and jigged and pranced,
and executed the most perfect flip of all.
It then made a slip,
when it did its goblin filp,
and went right off my dresser top.
It landed with a crash,
right into the trash,
in the wastebasket did it plop.
It laughed at its trick,
and did another flip
that landed it near my closet door.
It slowly peeked within,
and rubbed its goblin chin,
as it looked at the things no goblin had seen before.
It hopped inside with glee,
filled with couriosity,
and dressed itself in my shoes and favorite hat.
It dressed up the harlequin,
with necklaces made of safety pins,
and by the mirror it sat.
It made a house of cards,
and a clothespin dog for the yard,
and made the fence out of brushes and combs
But the night was slowly drawing to a close,
and the little goblin rose,
knowing it had to soon go home.
It took off my hat and shoes,
bid the harlequin "Adieu",
and scampered out into the night's gloom.
As I lay there in the dark,
did I imagine a soft bark,
from a clothespin dog in my room?
