Monster Hunt

There was a monster in my room,
it was hiding in the gloom.
I knew because I could see its eyes.

I was hiding in the bed,
with the covers over my head,
but it was still there to my surprise.

So to Uncle Jack I ran,
because I knew he had a plan,
to rid me of the creature in my room.

He was sitting in the chair,
and looked up when I was there,
to listen about the monster in my room.

He sat and scratched his head,
looked at the clock and said,
"Well, since it is not a school night,"

"Let's go have some fun,
and we will put it on the run,
since your folks have gone out tonight."

He got a net out of the shed,
and put a hat on my head,
because thats how monster hunters need to be .

He then painted our faces,
with Moms make-up from Maceys,
and then he took a picture of me.

He said " We will put it in a zoo,
and charge a dollar or two,
to see a real live monster in a cage."

"Hunting them is tricky,
and if things should get sticky,
you have to dance around like in a rage."

To leave nothing up to chance,
we did a monster dance,
which would cause it to tremble there in fear.

So we snuck into my room,
slowly creeping in the gloom,
but of the monster there was no hide or hair.

But there was movement on the chair,
Uncle Jack said "Beware !"
and caught it up in a pillow case.

But when we opened up the bag,
to see what we had,
the cat peeked out at us in disgrace.

"It seems it saw us coming,
and then it started running.",
said Uncle Jack with a smile upon his face.

"Let's make sure he is gone,
and he stays on the run."
So we did the monster dance around the place.

We started in the back,
with nets ready for attack,
and danced around every room.

We went to the end of the hall,
and hid there by the wall,
because it was dark and full of gloom.

There was a movie on TV,
no other lights did we see,
and it looked where a monster would crouch.

So we charged right on in,
us two painted men,
and captured big sister and her date on the couch.

She turned a bright shade of red,
and took the net off of her head,
but not before Uncle Jack took a picture by chance.

I wanted to tie them up,
but Uncle Jack told me to stop,
and we showed them the monster dance.

Ever since that night,
when we gave the monster a fright,
and chased it out of the place.

I know the monster dance,
will scare it away by chance,
if ever again it decides to show its face.
