The Candy Wrappers

During the scorching heat she spends her days on a bench inside the mall- marveling the children and cooing with babies With a smile that outshines the brightest star and eyes that sparkle like diamonds, she pats their heads With disfigured fingers, she rummages through her faded tapestry bag that�s held together with string and safety pins and offers them treats A cloud replaces her smile- her lids flutter and release diamonds down her face With her hand outstretched, she swivels in her seat to watch her new friends scamper away until they are out of her sight. She looks in her hand at the candy wrappers � MS 08.08.05

It is a sad commentary on so many of our aged seniors so kind of heart and so in love with the babies of the world but so alone in the junngle of lost society. Very powerful write Marilyn

A cloud replaces her smile-
