Composed in my head as I set by Mom's bed in her last hours.

I watched my mother lying there,
in her final bed
and wondered just what thoughts,
were swirling through her head.

Was she remembering the times
before Dad died? Or just
the wonderful life with
all her children she’s had.

We’ll never know just
what she’s thinking,
as she goes her way
without blinking.

We know she loves us all
and of that we’re sure.
She knows we gathered round
to bid her farewell.

We’ll turn her loose
to go her way, to
join Dad on her final day.

We love you Mom
and always will,
though you lie there,
so small and still.
