As a speculum to perch
Grandmother's mirror,
Ageless this looking glass
which once held youthful face
in its oval frame
and slowly caught the years
like the dust motes taunting.
Eyes to fade with the calendars,
replaced with each new year,
face to lose its grin
as winters collected more than snow,
and feeble hands checked one more time
to see if she was there,
only to question who it was
looking back,
and where the years are stored.
