I have a better suggestion. Stephen, I hope you won't mind my suggestion:

As the weather gets warmer

People head to the beach

The good swimmers swim out to sea

Try to catch some waves there

Unaware that the waves

are busying themselves to reach the shore.

I would suggest the lash line to read, "Waves lap just out of reach."
