Devil's Due

Whose breath was it that dare gave you
this life you’re born to taste?
Whose heart beat raged in rhythms of
the love you chose to waste?

What once was warm and tender
held within the arms of hope…
Has grown into a festered soul
who’s never learned to cope.

A rancid disposition worn
with murder in your eyes…
Forked tongue a weapon sharp enough
to bleed your wealth of lies.

A stalker of the pure in heart
you’d cut the vein with ease…
Or spread your poison of deceit
to gain that which you please.

No joy has been instilled inside
no pride to stand up tall…
Just evil exaltation
when you make another fall.

Infected flesh once innocent
now rotten through and through…
Beguiled to sin at every whim
must give the devil due.

Hi Melissa!
This was great... very vivid... it seems quite personal in a way... almost as if written out of a betrayal... but anyway don't mind me, I read into things... Great write! :)
