The Secret Sea
The dark tide of night breaks around me, Stars colliding in its wake As they spiral through the heavens A million light years away. And the songs of hidden creatures Ebb and flow in melodious waves, To swell and eddy in the forest Then come to rest in secret glades. While tiny bobbing fireflies Swing their lanterns in their flight, Guiding swimmers homeward Through the ocean of the night. And moonbeams drift on the waters, To come ashore and rest on me; And I, Like the Ancient Mariner, Trail my fingers in the sea.
