Absolution

Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned,
Yesterday and the day before,
And I’ll surely sin again today,
Knowing exactly what it is I do,
Which is far worse than knowing not;
At least it is in the eyes of God,
As you have so many times implied.

I knew them one, and I knew them all,
Strangers I knew in the Biblical sense;
But I never let them see beyond my face
To glimpse the knowing in my eyes,
For if they had, they would have died,
Been scorched and turned to ashes—
Or maybe frozen into stone.

A chilling yet sincere pen in absolution for all have sinned and fall short…its just that many fail to acknowledge it…well written piece.

God, Got, Gott; "Grüss Teus, Deus, Odin." Deus, same as Zeus; God means I SALUTE ZEUS. DEUS, a word of the "Pontifex" for ZEUS. Note: Until the eleventh century, the word in English was "DEUS"; then it became "Got" from German "GOTT", and "GOD" after half of the eleventh century... Oh... let me get back to the poem!

An awareness' stimulating composition... "Absolution" is spicy and provides a great digestation of its nourishable contents.

Never rest Your pen, Poet.

In admiration,

A wonderful scripture from the old testament when God says (( paraphrase) 'not only do I forgive your sin...I have forgotten it to.'

The nice thing in knowing once confessed to God, always forgiven..

Peace,
Dan

Carol, The Catholic first grader in me trembled on the opening line...and the woman scorned in me sighed on the closing line. I think I recognized something there but am not entirely sure. In any event, definately a powerful pen.

be well and happy,
Kathy

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
