Wake up call

Awaken in the midst of turmoil.

America’s blood suddenly boils as

violence thunders throughout our soil.

Loved ones lost and gone, as structures

collapsed in a moment’s dawn.

Every eye from around the globe, glued

to the story unfolding and told.

Faces filled with emotions of disbelief

suddenly marked a turning of a leaf.

America was under direct attack like a knife

plunged in her back. Bracing as she vaguely

fell, quickly bouncing back up to defend well.

September 11th marked a deadly beginning

on the War on Terror, as America’s sons and

daughters now became a torch barrier.

To fight and defend, was the main object.

Bold orders given out to reflect, as the time

at hand was to protect.

Seven years have past; still we live in a world

suffering from the burnt ash.

Now we are at a point to make a difference, so

don’t stand on the fence.

Choices made earlier in the game don’t matter

if the stay the same. Now is the time to speak

and not be weak.

Vote for what is right, for now is your time to

bring America to the light.

This poem is to remind us, that in order to protect,

we need to be careful whom we elect.
