I am an anachronism, a noble and chivalrous man
in the bright light of day I came to you unsolicited
carrying a decade of love for you within my breast
low those many years only I knew of its intensity

my offering held no pretensions only honest breath
its appearance valid on my face gleaming in my eyes
you were not a quest I sought you were the focus
the dream I held secretly pounding in my chest

with you I wanted only to share a lifetime of love
I had held in abeyance within my aged body decimated
with life’s infirmities from illness and strain
no longer a physical prince of a man when we met

honesty adoration and absolute love for you my offerings
time and circumstance had taken their due tolls
if my offerings were not obvious and adequate
I prayed rejection would be swift and honest

to die one day and many emotional setbacks at a time
would have been an agonizing death sentence
I felt instant understanding for my offering; yet
hoping praying such an honest love would not be denied

A love poem and a confession. There is something sacred in your verses, to my ears, this sounds like a prayer. I haven't read anything on AD for years, and here I am, rediscovering my favourite authors" poems... Hope you're stil writing.

SEEMS YOU WERE BUBBLING OVER...READY AND WILLING TO GIVE IT YOUR ALL. I KNOW SOMEONE LIKE THIS THAT WAS HURT SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE RIGHT PERSON CAME ALONG. SO OFTEN, THIS KIND OF HONEST, OPEN, REACHING LOVE...IS NOT APPRECIATED. WHY? THIS KIND OF LOVE IS NOT AN ORDINARY LOVE AND MOST PEOPLE ARE ORINARY. IT'S ONLY WHEN ONE MEETS ANOTHER WHO IS SEEKING THE SAME THING, THAT A LOVE LIKE THIS IS APPRECIATED AND BLOSSOMS. THANKS FOR SHARING AND A WONDERFUL MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

A beautiful portrait of real love. Being a spiritual prince is the important thing, Jon Michael.

This is the kind of poetry with which I share a kindred spirit. I can completely relate, Jon. Thank you for sharing. Love and peace,

A write open to acceptance or rejection, fearless. We have to throw those pebbles to get the pool to ripple going for life - life is not for spectators.

Many find it hard to say, "I love you," for the fear of rejection...

Good to see you posting again. There's a lot of emotion wrapped up in this poignant plea. Don't we all wish we could be, "a physical principle of a man," again. I would hope that she responds to this, but I think it may be too late for poetry.

Ron
