This is a poem about my granny who is suffering from Dementia/Paranoia. She thinks many people want to harm or kill her and even steal her belongings. Recently, she is going back into time and not sure about the present.
This disease is a doorway to infinity
Or the entrance to your hell
Only you can understand
The only one who can tell
You get so scared and paranoid
Living in a distorted dream
Voices haunting your mind
Making you want to scream
In the inner depths
Of your deep soul
It doesn’t really matter
You’re not completely whole
Your feelings get very hurt
When other’s tell you about your life
The look in your blue eyes
Word’s cut like a knife
I want to help you
Make it all “ok”
When your brain wonders
When the soul strays
I will forever love you
No matter which way you are
Within or out of my reach
I’ll never be too far
Your life right now
Swings like a revolving door
Everyone must understand
Your mind lives on 2 adjoining floors
My father had Alzheimer's so I can surely sympathize. Take my word for it the best way is to confront it head on. Don't ever show pity for them and always treat them as an equal. They are still human beings. As the disease progresses it will become easier for them to remember what happened 30 years ago than what happened yesterday. My Thoughts are with you and your granny and I will keep you both in my prayers. God Bless You Always, Paul.

Indeed this is sad. We had one who thought he was still in the war, and locked himself in a cabinet saying those damn japs have buried me.. plus another who just did not recognise us, it is distressing, but you're not alone, and funnily enough just today on the bbc here, they think they've found a new med to combat it..
