So many beautiful faces
From so many different places,
That’s what the den is all about.
I’ll be on vacation for a week or two,
But I will think about all of you,
And will see you when I return.
For the special people I did meet
That makes the journey so sweet,
There is a place in my heart for you all.
But before I walk through that door
With gratitude I do one last encore,
For my friends and poets that I have come to adore.
Eileen is my soul-bud
And she really is a rose bud,
That blooms every time she writes.
Marilyn is a sweetheart
With a pure and good heart,
I’m glad to know people like her are around.
Josie doesn’t know the meaning of can’t
And I love to read her rants,
Because that’s when her spirit shines.
My Lady Peg writes about love
And dreams floating down from above,
And she has a heart that matches what she writes.
Retta calls herself a reindeer
And she has a heart that is dear,
And her words are fresh and new.
Jill with her heart of gold
Shares with us as her story is told,
So that others can learn to understand.
Kate has a true passion for art
And for her this is just the start,
Because she soars with eagles.
Karen and Karla I always get them confused,
But they always leave me feeling good and never used,
Because they have that special kind of spirit.
Tinka-tot has the personality that makes me smile
And forget about my troubles for a while,
And that is a great gift.
Jude Ace gives me inspiration
With insightful poems of life situations,
They always make me think.
Sketchman has many talents and drawing is just one
And I haven’t ever seen a bad one,
That is sure to open many doors.
Ted and I on some occasions disagreed,
But we smiled when we gave our opinion and let it be,
We had mutual respect as artist.
Ron corrected me when I spelled wrong,
But that made my work strong,
I needed more help like that.
Christine’s poetry is true to life
Sometimes soft and sometimes cuts like a knife,
But it was always true to the emotions.
Nicole had poems that were little pieces of her soul
That you could read over and over and never seem old,
I hope she writes forever.
Trixie has a heart that is full of love
And her poems were sent from heaven above,
A beauty like hers is rare.
Dani is a master at writing about the darkness and light
And she is my friend, because I offered her a Snickers bar to bite,
Her poetry isn’t the only thing beautiful about this girl.
Sandie welcomed me from the start,
Because she has a beautiful heart,
That will always continue to shine.
Nevine comes from a culture that I don’t understand,
But style and poetic grace she does command,
But what can she expect, I’m just a man.
Supergirl makes me smile,
Maybe it’s something to do with my inner child,
I like it when she flies by once in a while.
Carolyn Red Bear has a spirit that’s sweet,
And a wonderful spirit is always nice to meet,
She opens my eyes to things unseen.
Ed and his friend Gumby are a pair,
But when I read them I forget my cares,
That’s what a good writer will do.
La Belle heats up the night
With romance that’s out of sight,
This is a gift for sure.
Southern Horizons I can’t forget,
I read her words without regret,
She has the words and personality to match.
Kay is my little aussie buddy friend,
She delights me with her stories again and again,
That’s what friends are for.
Tiana, I saved for last,
Because knowing her is a blast,
You could say she is my partner in crime.
And to all the rest
I have indeed been blessed,
I will miss you all.
I think you are the one with a beautiful heart!!! I remember those days when we had so much fun like a large AD family. We cared so much for each other.
I'm so happy you have kept this poem. This brings back so many good memories.
Thank you, dear Poet!!!
Sandie
As a result of my only posting and reading on Sunday, I missed communication with over half of the poets you've honored. But I really missed Eileen for her love of the universe. I found Jill able to write perfect poetry of a romantic quality and even met her one time downtown on her way to a radio poetry reading for Valentine's Day that she did yearly.
I never was interested in the gossipy friends game that took place and seemed to limit serious poetry. But I was always interested in good short stories and novels. They were my muse. The poetry contests were a big draw, and that's why I think so many poets came to post. But I'm so glad to see authors coming back to post again after years away.
