Mind bending thoughts of yesterday-

Tied neatly in a knot and laid carefully

Into my treasure chest of memories,

Until such a time that I take them out-

And perhaps hold them close to my heart

In the reality of a dream filled night.

Securely immersed in my realm of dreams-

Past the reality that binds me to earth,

I see you as an island unto yourself,

And I am an adventurer eager to explore

Every inch of this uncharted territory,

And ready to lay claim to any treasures I may find.

I sail upon your blue crystal waters-

Reaching down and touching my reflection softly,

As I watch the tiny ripples overrun

The boundaries of your deep blue liquid pools-

And wash upon your sand tone features

That I hold lovingly in my hands.

I slowly climb the twin peaks-

Striving to reach the summit

To watch the sun rising in your smile,

Wanting to touch a piece of heaven

That is only within my reach

When my mind is open and eyes closed.

I venture into your valley,

Where your flower petals still glisten

With the kiss of the morning dew,

There I taste the fruits in your garden,

Never wanting to leave this island-

This beautiful place called paradise.

The sadness of the dream ending

Is overshadowed by the beauty

Of being able to touch you in a dream,

For the heart doesn’t know

That it was only a dream,

And I will never tell it otherwise.
