This is a prompt story--hard word to work with. Silly, but cute

ABDUCTION

    I never believed my brother
    Had been abducted
    By aliens . . . However
    After checking under his covers
I feared it was a true   endeavor

As brothers go, Billy was okay
Weird and smelly, a nasty tease
Yet blood bound us till that awful day
    Green blood-like goo caused unease
As I searched for signs and clues

Mom and Dad did not seem worried
Never noticed that Billy was gone
    They went their way unhurried
I felt so scared, lost and alone
As if fallen into the "Twilight Zone!"

My sad plight came to fruition
While watching my parents in their room
Shivering, I felt a sickening intuition
    A feeling of impending doom

Long metal zippers lined their backs
Before they unzipped, I retraced my tracks!

"What lay beneath those zippers?" I thought
The idea of aliens made me overwrought
Oh Billy, oh bro, where did you go?
What manner of monster has you in tow?
Where's Mom and Dad--why was I left alone?

Fear and terror possessed my mind
My home overtaken by an alien kind
Of being, not akin at all to me
Escape, my only avenue to get free

A familiar whistle caught my ear
Billy often signalled me this way
Wary, I snunk out through the rear
Hoping, praying to find my family
Safe and sound . . .and zipper free!

    "Psst." I  followed the sound
To our tree house way above ground
    There they were, all three
Mom, Dad, Billy and now me!
    And whew!!! They were zipperless

We lay low, as our psuedo-family
    Left our home, glancing upward
As a whirring sound tore from the sky
The UFO hoverd low to the ground
The "others" unzipped their human skins

Ugh!! Only a mother could love these beings
Their own mothers, if they had any

    Once inside, the saucer soared
In a nanosecond it was gone
We hugged each other hard. "Lord,"
Mom said, "that was so wrong.
"Don't they know they don't belong?"

We told no one of our invasion
Who would have believed our altercation?
It was a tale told only upon occassion
As for Billy and me . . .
Gazing up at the big and little dippers
We vowed to ever be on guard for zippers!

Thanks Steve,
The meter s off and it's kind of silly but somehow funny and endearing. Never sent it out for publication but was thinking of turning it into a kid's book. I went to your site--good luck with your poems and keep sending them out!
