A poem about wanting to be close to someone you lost

A Visit To Your Underground Lair
August 4, 2015

I visit your underground lair
Where you hide in eternal slumber
And notice a withered carnation at its door
The sunshine bounces off the stone
And hits my ashen face
From which oceans gush
The warm breeze actually chills me
And an emptiness swarms me
Leaving me with a yearning
To lay my head upon the grass
Shut my eyes from the surroundings
And slip into your underground lair
In hopes to see a glimpse of you
And link my soul with yours

From my book Reflections of the Heart

This poem was written for a challenge where I had to write a poem using the following words: carnation, lair, sunshine, breeze, oceans, emptiness, caress, slumber.

Exulting words, comforting words, we each handle death of loved ones differently, take time to grieve differently and lastly, believe we will see oour loved ones again in Heaven.

A bit morbid. We can't retrieve the dead or be with them. While I will visit graves of loved ones, I have no desire to join them. But I can see were someone might be so dependent on someone (codependent?) In life, that they want to be with them in death, as well.

It seems you have done just that. Do you feel horror or lust?

Love ya!

Very nicely done. Love brings out the very best in us. Eh, the worst too. But this is the best.

The imagery within your verses awakens thought and emotion; very effectively expressed, Lena. Love and best wishes,

Regis
