The Worries At Night
November 3, 2015
The hours drag as night stands still
The darkness settles all around
She waits and waits for him until
Her heart starts breaking to the ground
No text, no call, no sign of life
The worries hit her never-ending
She finds herself in constant strife
Through heavy sobs she starts descending
Oh where is her love this late
How come he’s nowhere to be found
Has something happened to her mate
Has he been hurt, perhaps he drowned
The visions come like movie scenes
A thickened plot, a tragic ending
No matter what her mind screens
She is on edge, in need of mending
And that is why she thinks the worst
And that is why she can’t stand still
When he is gone at night she never
Finds herself in such a thrill
The hours drag and soon she hears
The key inside the lock below
He’s home at last, which brings more tears
And with it anger quick to show
Through soaking eyes at him she glares
And hits him with her words that bite
Her buried feelings now she bares
Her voice fills up the quiet night
No matter how she feels inside
No matter what she goes through
He’ll still go see his friends at night
Stay there long though she is blue
And he reacts like nothing’s wrong
Her thoughts should not be what they are
She shouldn’t suffer, must be strong
Because with that she won’t get far
But how can she be strong and cool
How can she act like all is fine
When he keeps acting like a fool
And treats her like she’s last in line
He doesn’t care about her feelings
Or what she goes through when he’s gone
He only cares about his dealings
About his friends and having fun
They’re number one and she is second
That’s what it seems like when he’s gone
And gone for hours on the record
Without a word when he’ll be done
And that’s how it will be forever
He’ll always do that to her heart
Because no matter what she’ll never
Stop loving him with all her heart
