Fathers day without him.

I wished everyone a happy fathers day today,

all those I know who kindly strive to be good dads in every way.

And if you called your dad and told him how much he is loved,

well then, that is something beautiful that you can be proud of.

So many times I wish that I could hug my dad once more,

to see his face and bright blue eyes and the smile I did adore.

I wish that I could hear him sing and whistle happily,

the irish tunes like 'Danny boy', those songs tug on my memory,

I wish that I could hold his hands ,

rough and tough,...a working mans.

I wish I could tell him how much he meant to me,

I have comfort knowing that in my heart he'll always be.

I will never forget you Dad,Happy Fathers Day

with love forever, from your proud but sad daughter,Kay.

Your poem is a universal tribute to all hard-working fathers like yours and mine who provided for us until we were able to provide for ourselves. Like you I lost mine back in 2005 from an illness from a dangerous hospital virus. He should have lived a few years longer but probably not until today.
