I Felt Your Fingertips

A poem to a friend through the ages our souls travel together and mostly in this holiday season.

Poem Artwork

I Felt Your Fingertips

The envelope was written by you to me

I carefully opened the envelope to not disturb the contents
of which were thought out for me, just for me
The words were lovingly placed on the page and I felt
them come to me between the many miles that separate us

My love for you is soul love and ever since I saw you when I was nearly 10 years old I have always loved you and liked you. The memories of childhood flood my brain, when I taught you how to dance, the parties you had at your home, your mother looking at me lovingly, I felt as though I were your sister from another mother

We hardly spoke at school but there was a glance or two during the day and I knew my brother was there if I needed him. Times change and actions change but I knew you were there if I needed you. A social need and brother need, not a lover’s need

That was odd to me that we hugged and kissed as we were teenagers but not a passionate love, it was a deep love and hardly do I think of you in terms of sex
Your eyes look through me as I pierce deep into your eyes and see a soul I once knew in another life, a life where we were happy together and knew we could count on each other

This envelope and card you sent this year was dear to me and those prints of yours upon the card and stamp came whole to me by soon I would see you in my sleep and comfort you for I know soon we will leave earth and our souls will float from star to star and have our forever love and laugh and dance that no soul is able to come between

My sweet prince enjoy the holiday when Christ blessed us for being who we are, his children and if only by fingertips I feel you is fine with me because we will always be together on this land and in the hemisphere joined by our souls and by God

So good to see you posting again. And this poem, so personal and sensitive, relating a lifetime of friendship. The kind of agape love that last well beyond the fervor of first love. So well written that it conveys your thoughts of receiving that letter perfectly. May you get back together with him before you post leave this phase of your lives apart but together.
