Some kitties are sluggish, some kitties are spry,

but our middle-aged kitty is still young at heart.

Paper wrapping and ribbons are her favorite prey,

if there’s a present handy, she’ll take it apart.

Callie settles down on her favorite perch

to watch squirrels race and jump about.

She longs to go outside and join in the fray,

but she’s an inside kitty and simply cannot.

Kitty’s naptime is her favorite thing,

and it takes up most of the day.

But we have to shut our door at night,

come our bedtime she’s ready to play.

At mealtime she patiently sits by her dish,

even if it is filled to the brim.

Callie gives me a look knowing full well

I will give in to her every whim.

The grandsons love to play with Miss Kitty,

but she would run from them and hide.

As the boys grew up, she has learned to trust,

And now all are on the same side.

I don’t know what we would do without Callie,

she adds so much joy to our lives.

So cheers to Miss Kitty, we raise our glasses high

to our girl who is so loving and wise.
