Against a white backdrop the trees
look like funny creatures. One looks
like an egg standing on one leg.
The light flickers and into my mind
pops the spectacle. The time when
my uncle showed home movies and
at the instant he changed reels, we
scooted up to the wall. A merry band
of rabbits, ducks and the occasional
snake sprang into life. Some of us
had the knack; everybody joined in.
When the show resumed , we were
jittery as a bunch of jumping beans.
My uncle ran them backwards after
we begged and begged and begged.
And that was the best part of the show.
Fruit trees silhouette the ghostly lot.
Memories silhouette my dubious mind.
All of it merging just above the post office.
These are features of the show called life.
Hands that want to quack and hop and prance.
