A deep birthday blessing.
Today, my husband is now fifty-four. In three weeks my father turns eighty. Causes to celebrate. It seems aging is that one way street, that meat digested. Absorbing our actions, we now entertain deep thoughts. Like trees at dawn, we will emerge from this darkness and take shape. Nowadays, we sleep. There will come a time when we awaken to the smell of oranges and of Eden. Happy birthday and many more.
