Why Do I Write Poetry

Times of joy and times of sadness,
Sometimes cannot be expressed out loud.
But here on this blank page I can be me,
For everything I feel is allowed.

Using your imagination you can let
All of your pent up emotions free
Taking the reader with you
On a very special journey
.
Throughout your life things will happen
That will either make you happy or sad
Isn’t wonderful to be able to write
 Taking out the pain or joy on paper instead
.
Sharing with others your inner most thoughts
Can be very scary at times
Sitting down and telling the world
Everything about you in perfect rhymes
.
Words can be a powerful tool
To let the world know you disagree
With all the bad things going on in this world
Opening up their minds so that they can see
.
Painting a picture with just words
Images fly across the page
Colors so vivid enter your thoughts
Making you smile or rage
.
Writing is a sedative for the soul
It lets you open your heart and be free
Sharing your thoughts with others
Letting them learn a little about me
