We each have a canvas What we put on it depends on us.
Life begins with innocence
Uncharted paths opened up
For me to travel cautiously
Like an artist when he approaches
his canvas. He opens up his mind
and heart and with his palette
of many colors he begins to paint
his dream
.
My life is an unfinished painting
Light colors for the days of carefree
Childhood spent playing with friends
Going to school and enjoying sports
.
There are some other lines of colors
From when life was hard and I felt lost
In a quagmire of twisted roots and vines
.
Then the bright light of my mother’s hands
As she reached out and helped me through
To a safe place where I could be at peace
And not afraid of the days ahead
.
Colors mixing and swirling around on my canvas
My life becoming fuller with my eyes on my
Journey to fulfill my destiny
.
To become what I have always wanted to be
I am an unfinished painting but with each
Day it becomes fuller and brighter
Than the day before
.
With hard work and perseverance
I will achieve what I set out to be
And my painting will be done
Ready to enjoy the fruits of my labor

in my mind forever! There are times when the artist must walk away and view his work from a different angle or distance. You are surely doing that and you achieve what you set out to be through your "art".
As you work toward your self portrait with life's paint, don't forget to have fun working toward the end of your painting. You should be having fun as you paint your way to your ultimate goal. Have fun spreading all that paint around.
